INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- In a list released last week, 14 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) men’s track and field athletes were selected to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships to be held on May 21-23 at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Texas Lutheran University will be represented by nine athletes, followed by McMurry University with three. Colorado College and Hendrix College are sending one student-athlete each to the championships to represent the SCAC.
For each individual event contested, including the decathlon and heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
McMurry’s Kamryn Cleveland, the back-to-back SCAC Track Athlete of the Meet, after winning the 200-meters and long jump at last month’s conference championship, will make his individual NCAA Outdoor Championship debut. The sophomore, who was a member of the War Hawks 4x100 relay team at last year’s NCAA Championship, qualified fifth for the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.87 to compete in his first individual event at the NCAA Championships.
Hendrix’s Westin Bruce is set to make his NCAA Outdoor Championships debut qualifying 16th in the 100-meter dash. Bruce, a junior, clocked a 10.41 at the SCAC Championships to win the event and set a new program record.
In the 400-meters, Texas Lutheran’s Braylen Brown is set to compete in his second consecutive NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship after earning All-American status in the event in 2025. Brown qualifies yet again in the event, entering the event ranked 20th in NCAA Division-III with a time of 47.22 seconds from last week's Trinity Last Chane Meet.
In the relay events, TLU will be sending both its 4x100 and 4 x400-meter relay squads to compete. For the third time in the last four years, the TLU 4x100 relay team will vie for a national title. The SCAC Champion quartet of senior Rickey Franks, sophomores Eden Perez and Hezekiah McDow and first-year Tavion Parrish qualified the ninth fastest time in the nation of 40.74. The Bulldogs’ 4x400-meter relay squad comprised entirely of sophomores, Brown, Perez, Gavino Ramirez and Caden Keller qualified 16th in the nation with a time of 3:12.07. This marks the first time since 2018 the SCAC has been represented in the 4x400 relay on the national stage.
In the field events, TLU sophomore Amir McClain qualified fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 15.18m at the SCAC Championships. McClain’s mark at last month’s SCAC Championships was a new conference record. Joining McClain in making his NCAA debut is Bulldog junior Parker Cabra, SCAC Champion in high jump, qualified ninth in the event with a jump of 2.09m.
McMurry sophomore Kelvin Goston qualified 22nd in the discus throw with a mark of 50.68. A pair of first time qualifiers round out the SCAC participants at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Colorado College sophomore Oliver Smeal and McMurry junior Bruce Brown both qualified top-15 in the javelin throw. Smeal qualified 10th (63.90m) and Brown qualified 15th (62.18m) respectively.
