MARSHALL, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team saw its season come to an end as the Tornados fell to East Texas Baptist, 13-9, in the NCAA Marshall Regional Final. Ralph Wallace III electrified in a relief effort as the Tornados launched three homers at Woods Field on Sunday.
CTX opened the game with a leadoff homer from Samuel Ortiz, but ETBU answered with six runs in the bottom of the first inning and added two more in the second to build an early 8-1 advantage.
The Tornados battled back in the sixth inning with a five-run frame to cut the deficit to 8-6. Carson Riley delivered the biggest swing of the inning with a three-run homer before Ty Klaus-Kisamore added a two-run shot later in the frame.
ETBU responded with a solo homer in the sixth before breaking the game open again in the seventh on a three-run homer to push the lead to 12-6.
Concordia refused to go away in the ninth inning. Ortiz singled before Louis Alonzo blasted a two-run homer to bring the Tornados within five. Jake Townsend later added an RBI single, and CTX loaded the bases before ETBU recorded the final two outs.
