ABILENE, Texas - McMurry University continues to lead heading into the final day of the 2026 SCAC Women's Track and Field Championship, which are being contested on the campus of McMurry. Official Website | Results | Photo Gallery
McMurry, who has 96 points and holds a 26-point lead over second place Texas Lutheran University, earned three golds on the day and have a meet-high five after two days of competition. The War Hawks have posted nine all-SCAC performances, which also leads the way at this year's championships.
On Saturday, finals were conducted in six more events, including the field events of the shot put, hammer, high jump and triple jump and track events in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and 10,000 meters. For just the second time in over a decade, the meet's field size precipiated the need for prelims in several track events, which were conducted throughout the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colorado College senior Alison Mueller-Hickler (watch post race interview), who won the event in 2024 and finished as runner-up last year, took top honors in the 10,000 meters, finishing in a time of 37:17.61 - the fourth-fastest time in SCAC championship meet history and the fastest in 16 years. With the victory, Mueller-Hickler becomes just the fifth woman in SCAC history to earn multiple golds in the event and her margin of victory was the largest in the event since the 2019 championships. Junior Mackenzie Combs of Texas Lutheran took second in a time of 39:21.52 and senior Chloe Weathers of Ozarks was third in 41:28.14.
- Senior Savanna Danner of McMurry (watch post race interview) defended her title in the 3,000 steeplechase, hitting the tape in a time of 11:42.17. Colorado College runners took second and third as sophomore Hannah Falk and junior Mary Cate Kiser crossed the finishing line in times of 12:08.61 and 12:15.10, respectively.
- After the initial two track events, action returned to the field where first-year Cylie Wong of Concordia (Texas) (watch post event interview) earned the first SCAC gold medal in program history, clearing 1.61 meters (5' 3 1/4") to take top honors in the high jump. Colorado College first-year Jane Keenan was second with a clearance of 1.58 meters (5' 2 1/4") and McMurry sophomore Hailee Garmer was third with a best clearance of 1.55 meters (5' 1").
- A year after settling for silver, junior Tori Colman of McMurry (watch post event interview) took one step up the awards podium to earn gold in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.38 meters (145' 7"). Sophomore Bronwyn Adams of Hendrix finished second with a best effort of 43.20 meters (141' 8") and senior Kirsten Smith of Texas Lutheran placed third with a toss of 39.08 meters (128' 2").
- Junior Kendra Humphries of McMurry (watch post event interview) defended her title in the shot put, earning gold with a toss of 13.39 meters (43' 11 1/4") - the longest throw in SCAC meet history. She had tied the conference mark (42' 10 3/4") last year before taking sole ownership of the record this year. She is the first woman in SCAC history to achieve a 43 foot or longer toss in the shot put at the conference meet. Her teammate and fellow junior Tori Colman was second with a throw of 11.84 meters (38' 10 1/4"), and Texas Lutheran first-year Laura Sierra was third with an effort of 11.73 meters (38' 6").
- In the final field event of the day, sophomore Ciarah Garcia of Texas Lutheran (watch post event interview) earned top honors in the triple jump, leaping to a winning mark of 11.33 meters (37' 2 1/4"). First-year Hannah Dunster of LeTourneau finished second with a jump of 10.95 meters (35' 11 1/4") and St. Thomas senior Jakayla Ray earned her second all-conference honor of the meet, placing third with a leap of 10.81 meters (35' 5 3/4").
- The remaining track events during the afternoon session were all preliminaries (results found here), setting up an action packed day of finals in the 100-hurdles, 400 meters, 100 meters, 800 meters, 400 meter hurdles and 200 meters - in addition to the 5,000 meters, 1,500 meters and the two team relays (4x1 and 4x4).
- Among the highlights from Saturday's preliminaries, the SCAC meet record was set in the 100 meters, as sophomore Quadetra Wilburn of St. Thomas finished with a time of 11.83 and breaking the former mark of Birmingham-Southern all-American Tiarra Goode from the 2012 meet (11.95).
