KERRVILLE, Texas - The third-seeded University of St. Thomas Celts opened play at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Championship with a 4-0 quarterfinal victory over the sixth-seeded LeTourneau University YellowJackets at the Kerrville Tennis Complex Friday morning. The Celts opened doubles play with win at line three, as Ella Mullins and Nataly Velasco secured a 6-1 win. UST went up 1-0 going into singles after Aimee Tran and Adriana Iturralde claimed a 6-4 win at the No. 2 doubles line.
In singles action, Marlie McArthur pushed the Celts to a 2-0 lead after winning, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 6 singles line. Iturralde got the Celts within one point of punching their ticket into the semifinals after claiming a 6-1, 6-1, victory at the No. 5 singles line.
St. Thomas stormed into the SCAC semifinals for the first time since 2023 after Mullins picked up her second point of the day, claiming victory a the No. 2 singles line, 6-0, 6-2, to secure the 4-0 win.
St. Thomas improves to 8-4 and advances into the SCAC Semifinals. The Celts will face the No. 3 seeded Tornados of Concordia (Tex.), scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Concordia defeated UST in a tight 4-3 match during the regular season back on March 27th. LeTourneau closes its 2026 campaign with a 9-8 record.
