CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Currently in 71st place, Colorado College leads five SCAC institutions ranked in the prestigious 2025-2026 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup winter standings. Complete Standings
University of St. Thomas (Tex.) tied for 142nd and Texas Lutheran tied for 168th round out three SCAC institutions inside of the top 175 of the Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup winter standings.
Rounding out the league schools in the winter standings are McMurry University, tied for 194th and Austin College checks in tied for 221st.
The LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
Colorado College has amassed 176 points in the standings, behind the strength of a strong fall that saw its cross-country programs, men’s soccer program and volleyball squad secure 124 points in the fall with runs to the NCAA Championships. The Tiger men’s indoor track squad added 52 points this winter after turning in a 20th place finish at the NCAA Indoor National Championships.
St. Thomas is the league’s second entrant into the Learfield rankings and currently sits tied for 142nd with 73.00 total points powered by an outstanding run in the NCAA Tournament from the Celts men’s basketball program. The UST men’s hoops squad, coming off an SCAC Tournament Title, made the league’s first run to the NCAA Regional Final (Elite 8) since 2008 to earn 73 total points.
Texas Lutheran is tied for 168th on the heels of its magical run to the SCAC Men’s Soccer Tournament Title last fall and winning the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament contest to secure 50 total points.
McMurry added 24.00 points this winter behind a 47th place finish at the NCAA Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships to go along with the 25.00 points earned from the War Hawks women’s soccer program last fall for a total of 49.00 points.
Austin College jumped into the Learfield standings and currently sits tied for 221st with 25.00 points. The ‘Roos’ Women’s Basketball team earned 25.00 points behind a magical run to the SCAC Tournament title and its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2020.
New York University leads all of Division III at the completion of the winter championships season with 812.25 points and holds a slim 1.25 lead over second-place Williams (811.00). Washington-St. Louis is in third with 787.50, followed by Johns Hopkins (784.00) and Tufts (739.75) to round out the top five.
To date, eight of the nine winter NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women's basketball – Denison; men's basketball – TBD; Women's Ice Hockey – UW-River Falls; Men's Ice Hockey – Hamilton; Women's Swimming & Diving - NYU; Men's Swimming & Diving - Denison; Men's Indoor Track & Field - Rowan; Women's Indoor Track & Field - WashU; Men's Wrestling – Wartburg.
