KERRVILLE, Texas -- For the first time in program history, Schreiner is headed to the SCAC Volleyball Tournament Championship after knocking off No. 2 seed Hendrix, 3-0, Friday night from the friendly confines of Stephens Family Arena. The Mountaineers, hosts of the 2025 SCAC Championship, came into the week with just two wins and one semifinal appearance in tournament history and have now doubled the program’s tournament win total and will play for a conference title on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Schreiner survived the opening set despite recording just nine kills and posting a team hitting percentage of .089 to win the opening set, 25-21. Defensively the Mountaineers were able to hold strong forcing a sideout on 77 percent (17-22) of their opportunities to help earn the opening set.
- Schreiner doubled its lead in the second set with a 25-22 win, behind 11 kills and an improved .140 hitting percentage. The Warriors committed a match-high 11 errors in the second frame.
- The Mountaineers punched their ticket in the SCAC final behind the support of the home crowd with an impressive 25-15 win in the third to complete the sweep. Schreiner hit a game-high .256 as a team and limited Hendrix to just .026.
- For the match, Schreiner finished with a .157 hitting percentage compared to Hendrix’s .094 hitting percentage. The Mountaineers finished with eight service aces to just two for the Warriors and also held the edge in errors, committing just 13 to the 22 for Hendrix.

NOTABLES
- Schreiner will make it SCAC Tournament Championship debut on Saturday. Teams competing in the SCAC final for the first time in program history are 2-5 all-time in the final with Texas Lutheran being the last team to earn a win in their first appearance back in 2022.
- Schreiner improves to 4-5 all-time in SCAC Tournament contests.
- Hendrix, which returned to the SCAC this season for the first time since 2011, falls to 14-36 all-time in SCAC Tournament play.
- This was the first meeting between the two programs in SCAC Tournament action.
- With the win, Schreiner now has 24 on the season, the most since joining the SCAC prior to the 2013 season and marks just the second 20 win season during that span.

Schreiner (24-6) will now square off against Colorado College in tomorrow’s SCAC Tournament final. It will mark the first ever meeting between the two programs in SCAC Tournament action. Hendrix ends its season with an overall record of 19-7 and SCAC Blue Division Champions.
