OLIVER NAUMANN OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a senior from Dallas, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Monday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 17. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 4)
Naumann claimed the top spot at the Centenary Hal Sutton Invitational shooting a 145 (+1) with a birdie on the first playoff hole to take solo medalist honors. Naumann was the picture of consistency with 30 pars across the 36-hole tournament finishing even after round one and carding a 73 in round two.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Aubrey Snell of Centenary finished seventh overall at the Centenary Hal Sutton Invitational posting a 151 (+7) after a 71 (-1) in round two. Snell opened the tournament shooting an 80 in round one but was able to shave nine strokes off his round two total thanks to four birdies. Senior Iain Griggs of Dallas finished tied for seventh at the CLU Kingsman Invitational carding a 148 (+4) after a strong start with a 71 (-1) in the opening round. Griggs posted four birdies in four one including three in his final four holes of the round to close out strong before securing an eagle on hole three during the second round. The senior had six birdies and an eagle during the tournament to finish inside the top-10. Sophomore Tripten Roberts of McMurry finished tied for 15th at the CLU Kingsman Invitational following a strong second round posting a 151 (+7) total. Roberts carded a 77 (+5) in the opening round and shaved three strokes off on day two with a 74 (+2). The sophomore totaled four birdies over the tournament including two in the final four holes of the tournament. Senior Van Miller of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs taking third overall at the CLU Kingsman Invitational finishing with an even par 144 with consistency across the pair of rounds shooting a 72 each day. Miller's first round was highlighted by a strong start, beginning the day four-under through six while day two was highlighted by an eagle on hole three. The senior totaled seven birdies and one eagle over the 36-hole tournament, helping the Bulldogs to a fifth place finish as a team.
