MASON JOHNSON OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a junior defensive lineman from Lewisville, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, October 25th. SCAC Football Release (Week 8)
Johnson was a defensive force in the Warriors' 38-21 win over Lyon College totaling eight tackles and two sacks, both single-game season highs. Johnson also recorded 3.5 tackles-for-loss for a total loss of 18 yards. The junior made back-to-back plays on the opening drive of the second half with Hendrix holding a 24-21 lead to put the Scots' facing a 3rd and 26, ultimately keeping Lyon scoreless in the second half.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defensive lineman Keidrick Wooten of Lyon totaled five tackles in a 38-21 loss at Hendrix with 2.5 tackles for loss. Wooten also had an interception in the second quarter when Lyon held a 21-17 lead.
