LeTourneau Launches Three Homers to Defeat Hendrix 7-5

CLEBURNE, Texas -- LeTourneau stays alive in the 2026 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Baseball Tournament by defeating Hendrix 7-5 in Saturday night's elimination game at La Moderna Field. Official Website l Photo Gallery | Postgame Interview

LeTourneau hit three homers en route to the elimination game victory, including a pair from Chris Savage. Despite an eighth-inning rally from the Warriors, LeTourneau advances in the elimination bracket to face Texas Lutheran at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Savage began the scoring with a leadoff homer in the fourth inning, immediately followed by a two-run blast from Blake Vice to lead 3-0.
  • Giancarlo Digiacamo put the Warriors' first run on the board by scoring on an error in the top of the fifth, but Savage launched his second home of the game in the home half to extend the lead to 5-1.
  • Both teams added runs in the sixth inning, but a Luke Land RBI single extended the YellowJackets' lead back to five in the seventh inning.
  • Hendrix rallied in the eighth inning, plating three and trimming the lead to 7-5.
  • Cruz Cox closed the ninth inning in flawless fashion to earn his ninth save of the season.

NOTABLES

  • Savage became the 11th player in SCAC Tournament history to hit two home runs in a single game, following the two home run game from Concordia's Samuel Ortiz in the preceding tournament game. 
  • It also marked the third time in SCAC Tournament history that there has been a two-home run performance by a single player in two tournament games the same weekend. The previous two times it happened, the same player posted two home-run performances in a single tournament (Jeff Gabbert of Southwestern in 2002 and Tyler Post of Texas Lutheran in 2023).
  • Hendrix ends its first season back in the SCAC with a mark of 22-21.

UP NEXT

With the win, LeTourneau (24-18) advances to tomorrow's 3 p.m. game against Texas Lutheran in another elimination game. The winner of that game will play immediately following - with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m., against the loser of the day's first contest, McMurry and Concordia (Texas).
