KADEN ENGLISH OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEX.), a senior from Hondo, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Monday, March 2 through Tuesday, March 3. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 2)
English led Concordia (Tex.) to a second-place team finish at the Schreiner Spring Shootout this week after staking claim to a second-place individual finish, the highest among any SCAC athlete in the field. After firing an opening round 71 (-1), English posted a two-round total of 146 (+3) with a second round of 75 (+4) to finish second out of the 49 player field. English finished the week third in Par 5 scoring (4.63), tied for second with 24 pars and his five birdies were tied for the sixth most among the competition.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Playing as an individual, senior Noah Hancock of Schreiner, posted a top-5 finish at his home Spring Shootout, finishing fourth with a two-round score of 149 (+5). Hancock opened with a 75 (+3) and then jumped into the top-5 with a second-round score of 74 (+2). His 23 pars on the week finished tied for fourth most in the event. Sophomore Jesus Del Aguila of St. Thomas finished in a tie for fifth at the Schreiner Spring Shootout, firing a two-day total of 150 (+6), with rounds of 74 and 76. Del Aguila was outstanding on the par 4s, finishing tied for the lead in par 4 scoring with a 4.05 average. Junior Mike Zhang of Dallas vaulted 23 spots in the final standings to finish eighth to lead the Crusaders at the Schreiner Spring Shootout. After an opening round of 81 (+9), Zhang shot an even par 72 on day two to finish in the top-10. He finished the week with one eagle and six birdies. Junior Eli Brinton of McMurry posted a top-10 finish, finishing tied for ninth to lead the War Hawks at the Schreiner Spring Shootout. Brinton posted a 36-hole total of 154 (+10) after round of 78 and 76. He finished sixth in the field with 22 total pars.
