Riley Brady, Hendrix College, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 5)

RILEY BRADY OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a junior forward from Little Rock, Ark., has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, December 1 through Sunday, December 7. SCAC Women's Basketball Release (Week 5) 

Brady was a monster on the glass last week for the Warriors posting back-to-back 20 plus rebound efforts and averaging an outstanding 19.7 rebounds per contest, including 10.7 defensive rebounds per game. In a tough non-conference loss to Rhodes, Brady grabbed 23 rebounds including nine defensive rebounds and then in a win over Arkansas Baptist she pulled down 26 rebounds, 11 on the defensive end. Both performances are the two best single game performances of the season, in fact they are both in the top 10 all-time in SCAC history. Her 26-rebound performance in tied for third all-time, while her 23 rebounds are tied for 10th all-time in a single game in SCAC history. Additionally, Brady added 1.7 steals and 0.7 blocks per contest as well.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior guard Avory Miller of Austin College had another strong week defensively, averaging 2.7 steals per game in three contests while also grabbing 7.7 rebounds per game, including 7.0 boards per game on the defensive glass. Miller also chipped in 7.3 points and 3.0 assists per game. Sophomore guard Alexis Duhon of Centenary had a solid game in the Ladies' 55-50 comeback victory over LeTourneau on Tuesday night in Longview, Texas as she finished with seven points and a career-high 10 rebounds with four assists and four steals in 28 minutes. Of her 10 rebounds, six were defensive. First-year forward Maria Podskarbi of Dallas continued to be a rebounding presence, averaging eight rebounds per game last week, including 5.5 defensive rebounds per game. She also added 1.0 points and 0.5 assists per contest as well. Senior forward Aryana Cleveland of McMurry helped lift the War Hawks to just their third 5-0 start to a season since 2006-07 with four defensive rebounds, three steals and one block in a win over Schreiner to sweep the season series against the Mountaineers.
