JACOB BUNIFF OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a senior quarterback from Carrollton, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, October 11th. SCAC Football Release (Week 6)
Buniff threw for a season-high 380 yards and tossed three touchdowns in the Warriors' 60-21 conference win over Austin College on Saturday afternoon. The senior finished 31-of-45 on the day, completing 68.9% of his passes and averaging 8.4 yards per attempt. Buniff added 51 yards on the ground to take him over 400 yards of total offense.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior running back Obadiah Butler of Centenary had a big game for the Gents Saturday night in the league opener against Texas Lutheran as he rushed 15 times for a game-high 159 yards. Butler thrilled the home crowd with a 95-yard TD run in the third quarter and also caught five passes and returned six kicks for 113 yards (18.8/return) with a long return of 52 yards. First-year quarterback Dylan Plake of McMurry finished 20-of-28 for 370 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in the War Hawks' 65-7 win over Lyon Saturday. Senior running back Weston Guzman of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs offense with a career-high four rushing touchdowns on 29 carries for 125 yards as the Bulldogs picked up their first SCAC win of the season 55-27 over Centenary. The four rushing touchdowns are the most since teammate Caden Bosanko accomplished it twice last season, including once against Centenary, and the most by a running back since Marquis Barrolle against Louisiana College in 2014.
