ALEXIS BODUNRIN OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS (TEX.), a junior outside hitter from Tomball, Texas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for matches played from Tuesday, October 14th through Saturday, October 18th. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 8)
Bodunrin helped the Celts avenge an earlier conference loss with 26 kills against Colorado College, leading UST to a 3-2 win over the Tigers. Bodunrin's 26 kills tie the third highest total in a single match this season by an SCAC student-athlete and is one off a season-high for the junior who leads the league in kills and kills per set. She also added 12 digs and a block against the Tigers. This marks her third-straight Offensive Player of the Week honor and fourth of the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year middle blocker Madisin Hartsfield of Austin College posted an impressive .833 hitting percentage in the lone victory of the week over Dallas totaling 10 kills. She did not have an attack error in the match while adding three blocks. Junior outside hitter Ana Bastos of Hendrix led the Warriors with 21 kills in a 2-0 weekend. She posted 11 kills in a win over LeTourneau and added 10 in a sweep of Centenary. Senior opposite hitter Emma Smith of LeTourneau posted 19 kills over a pair of matches for the YellowJackets including 13 in a win over Ozarks (Ark.). Against the Eagles, she had an impressive .550 hitting percentage to go along with four blocks. Sophomore right side hitter Marcette Williams of McMurry totaled 24 kills with 16 coming against Concordia (Tex.). Williams also contributed 14 digs and three blocks over the two matches. First-year outside hitter Brooke Humphrey of Ozarks (Ark.) tallied 17 kills for the Eagles in a 1-1 week while finishing the weekend with 23 digs. Junior outside hitter Giana Hilliard of Schreiner added 13 kills in a sweep of Concordia (Tex.) with a .591 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Maselina Tuufuli of Texas Lutheran added nine kills for the Bulldogs in a sweep of McMurry. She also added two digs and a block against the War Hawks.
