CARLY LANGE OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS (TEX.), a junior libero from Bellville, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from Tuesday, October 7th through Sunday, October 12th. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 7)
Lange tallied 55 digs over two matches including 37 in the Celts' win over Schreiner, handing the Mountaineers their first loss in conference play. Lange averaged 6.88 digs per set and ranks in the top-10 nationally in digs per set. This marks Lange's second Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
First-year middle blocker Madisin Hartsfield of Austin College was a force at the net averaging 1.17 blocks per set with seven blocks over two matches. She posted five in a win over Centenary and added a pair in a loss against LeTourneau. First-year Destiny Labbe of Centenary posted 18 digs along with three total blocks over a pair of matches. Labbe also added 20 kills and three aces over the weekend. Junior libero Meghan Gannon of Colorado College led the Tigers with 49 digs over three matches including a weekend-high of 28 against Schreiner. First-year defensive specialist Carola Moreno of Hendrix posted 34 digs over the weekend including a career-high 26 in a sweep of Ozarks (Ark.), averaging 8.67 digs per set in that match. Junior libero Maddy Hirneise of LeTourneau recorded 16 digs with a pair of assists and an ace in a win at Austin College. Sophomore defensive specialist/libero Jalie Miller of McMurry totaled 30 digs over a pair of matches with a high of 17 in a loss at Colorado College. First-year defensive specialist Lauralai Bradley of University of the Ozarks (Ark.) had a team-high 13 digs against Hendrix as she leads the Eagles in digs this season. Senior libero/defensive specialist Richelle Guerra of Texas Lutheran posted 43 digs over the week in a pair of matches including 24 in a win over Concordia (Tex.).
