COREY THOMPSON OF ST. THOMAS (TEX.), a junior from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Tuesday, December 9 through Sunday, December 14. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 6)
Thompson controlled the game on both ends, finishing with seven steals, five rebounds, and five assists as the Celts won in overtime in the league opener against Colorado College. Thompson played 39 minutes adding 18 points including shooting 9-of-11 from the free throw line.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Ethan Pearce of Austin College was a game-changer on defense posting five blocks and coming up with a steal to help the 'Roos to a 74-71 victory over Lyon College. Pearce also grabbed eight rebounds, including six on the defensive glass, and scored eight points in the victory. Senior Teigan Edwards of LeTourneau had a career-high five steals to go along with a career-best 27 points and eight assists in a loss to Hardin-Simmons. His five steals led the way for LeTourneau as the YellowJackets forced the Cowboys into 23 turnovers.
