BROOKE BRILLIANT OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior middle blocker from Marin County, Calif., has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 2nd through Sunday, September 7th. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 2)
Brilliant tallied 36 kills over three matches including 18 in a five-set win over George Fox. Brilliant posted a .536 hitting percentage and currently ranks third in the country in hitting percentage (.550) while leading the team in kills, kills per set and hitting percentage. Against George Fox, Brilliant had 18 kills with a .739 hitting percentage and added three blocks.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore outside hitter Brooklynne Fitzgerald of Concordia (Tex.) posted 50 kills over four matches for the Tornados with a season-high 19 against Belhaven in a 3-0 win. Fitzgerald had 13 or more kills in three of the four matches and was named to the ETBU Tiger Invitational All-Tournament Team. First-year middle blocker Mary Mehan of Dallas totaled 38 kills over four matches at the ETBU Tiger Invitational, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Mehan posted 14 kills against Belhaven and had a .400 or better hitting percentage in three of the four matches. Junior middle blocker Riley Brady of Hendrix had 14 or more kills in all three matches for the Warriors, posting 45 for the weekend. Brady averaged 3.46 kills per set with a .447 hitting percentage and added 23 digs. Senior outside hitter Aubree McCann of LeTourneau managed 37 kills over three matches for the YellowJackets including 18 against Sewanee in a 3-1 win. McCann also added 38 digs and two blocks. First-year outside hitter Brooke Humphrey of University of the Ozarks began her career with a hot start contributing 48 kills over four matches. Humphrey helped the Eagles win their inaugural match with 13 kills and followed that with 19 in a win over Central Baptist. Junior right side hitter Jazilyn Davis of University of St. Thomas (Tex.) added 31 kills for the Celts over a 4-0 weekend. She posted 12 kills against Millsaps in a five-set victory and added three blocks in that match. Senior outside hitter Ryann Ely of Texas Lutheran tallied 26 kills over three matches for the Bulldogs including 14 against #16 Illinois Wesleyan. She earned Southwestern (Tex.) Invitational All-Tournament honors for her performance adding 12 digs over the weekend as well.
