RUSSELL MACFARLANE OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior from Seattle. Wash., has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Friday, February 20 through Sunday, February 22. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 15)
MacFarlane led the Tigers to a perfect 2-0 weekend to cap the regular season. The senior averaged 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 14.5 points per game. On Friday, he grabbed eight rebounds, 15 points, and had a game-high three blocks and a steal. On Sunday against top-seeded LeTourneau, MacFarlane grabbed seven rebounds, one more block and scored 14 points in the winning effort.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Percy Green of Concordia (Tex.) averaged 17.0 ppg, 10.0 rbg, and 1.0 steal in a pair of road victories for the Tornados. He tallied a season-high 13 boards and two steals in a 102-91 win at McMurry and then added 18 points and seven rebounds at Schreiner on Sunday. Sophomore Cooper Smith of LeTourneau averaged 3.0 steals and 6.0 rebounds per game, while adding 7.5 points per contest for LeTourneau. He had six rebounds, two steals, and six points in a loss at No. 4 St. Thomas. In a two-point loss at Colorado College, Smith added four steals, six rebounds, and nine points. Junior Dylan Archey of Ozarks (Ark.) helped push the Eagles to a 1-1 record to finish the regular season. Archey totaled six steals and seven defensive rebounds. He also averaged 11.5 points and dished out 3.5 assists per game. Senior Noah Drenth of Schreiner posted 10 blocks against Concordia (Tex.), tied for third-most all time in a single game in the SCAC. Drenth averaged 7.5 rebounds per game and scored 10 points over the two contests. Senior Reyce Allen of St. Thomas (Tex.) anchored the interior defense for St. Thomas in two starts, helping the Celts remain a perfect 16-0 in conference play. Averaging 24.5 minutes per game, Allen totaled nine rebounds, two blocks, and a steal while protecting the paint and limiting second-chance opportunities. St. Thomas (Tex.) held opponents to just 64 points in both contests.
