WACO, Texas – Second-seeded Southwestern University advanced to its 10th-straight final after securing a 4-2 win over third-seeded Colorado College on Saturday afternoon in semifinal action at the SCAC Men’s Tennis Championship from the Waco Tennis & Fitness Center. Official Website l Photo Album
The Pirates held a 1-0 lead going into singles action after Oscar Roy and Ashton Ellis earned a 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. Southwestern took the doubles point when the duo of Sebastian Herrera and Landon Sosebee recorded a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
Singles action saw Roy take a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the first singles. Teammate Parth Patel tallied a 6-0, 6-5 win at six singles to give the Pirates a 3-0 match lead. Colorado College sliced into that lead when the Tigers won matches at third singles (Dominik Kaminski: 4-6, 6-3, 7-5) and fourth singles (Sam Dilworth: 6-2, 6-7 (7-5), 6-3) to make it 3-2. Southwestern then clinched the match after Nolan Alvarez tallied a 6-0, 6-5 victory at fifth singles.
The Pirates improved to 16-6 on the season, while Colorado College falls to 6-14 this season.
