ALEX WOLTER OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior goalkeeper from New Canaan, Conn., has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Tuesday, September 2nd through Sunday, September 7th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 2)
Wolter helped lead the Tigers to an unbeaten weekend that featured two shutouts. Wolter shut out both Cal Lutheran and Mary Hardin-Baylor and finished with six saves. CC downed CLU 2-0 and tied with UMHB 0-0. Wolter has three shutouts already this year, which leads the SCAC and his 11 total saves are currently tied for third in the league.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior goalkeeper Sam Brocato of Centenary continued his strong start to the year, adding 12 more saves over two contests to bring his season total to 23, second most in the SCAC. Brocato made seven saves in the Gents, 1-0, shutout win over Lyon, his third shutout of the season. Senior defender Devin Hammell of Concordia (TX) was lockdown for the Tornados in a 3-1 win over Howard Payne to open the 2025 season. Hammell played 57 minutes in helping limit Howard Payne to just four shots on target and two corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Jorge Gonzalez of St. Thomas was outstanding in net for the Celts, recording six saves to post a shutout in the season opening 1-0 win over Hardin-Simmons last Saturday. The six saves marked a career-high in goal for Gonzalez. Senior midfielder Evan Bremauntz of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs’ defensive effort last week that allowed just one goal and posted a shutout over two contests. Bremauntz and TLU have allowed just two goals through the opening four matches, posting two shutouts, including one last week in a 5-0 win over Howard Payne.
