WILL SHUFLIT OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior from Park City, Utah, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets conducted from Thursday, September 25 through Saturday, September 27. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 5)
Shuflit became just the second Colorado College runner to win the school's home cross country meet in consecutive years and led the Tigers to a second-place finish Saturday morning at the Ted Castaneda Classic at North Monument Valley Park. Shuflit crossed the line of the 8K course in 24:49.46, more than 15 seconds faster than runner-up Joseph White of Divi. I Air Force. Shuflit joins Jackson Brainerd (2008, 2009) as the only back-to-back winners of the event from CC.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Elijah Emerson of St. Thomas (Tex.) delivered another electric performance last week, leading the Celts to the team championship at the Prairie View A&M/Clifton Gilliard Cross Country Invite. Emerson captured the individual title, his first of his career, with a program record 8K time of 24:56.65. Sophomore Jonas Martinez of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs at the Hill College Cross Country Invite last week. Martinez was the top Div. III finisher against competition across all divisions, finishing 15th with an 8K PR time of 27:03.12. His time is now the eighth fastest 8K time in program history.
