RICHELLE GUERRA OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior libero/defensive specialist from Brownsville, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 23rd through Sunday, September 28th. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 5)
Guerra posted 44 digs over a pair of SCAC matches including 28 in a five-set match against Schreiner. She averaged 5.50 digs per set while adding 10 assists as the Bulldogs were 1-1 over the week with a five set loss to Schreiner and a sweep of McMurry.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
First-year middle blocker Madisin Hartsfield of Austin College posted four blocks in the 'Roos sweep of Dallas. Her four blocks was an average of 1.33 per set and she added three kills. First-year outside hitter/defensive specialist Destiny Labbe of Centenary tallied 19 kills, 15 digs, four aces, a pair of block assists, and one assist. Labbe finished with a season-high 11 kills, 10 digs, and three aces in Sunday's win over Ozarks (Ark.). Senior libero Nyah Flores of Colorado College equaled her career-high with 14 digs in a sweep of St. Thomas (Tex.) to remain undefeated in league play. She averaged 4.67 digs per set in the sweep. Junior defensive specialist Mary Addisyn Stubbs of Hendrix totaled 34 digs over a 2-0 weekend for the Warriors, averaging 4.25 digs per set. Against LeTourneau in a five-set loss, the junior recorded 24 digs, her fourth-most in a five-set match, to go along with 15 receptions. Junior libero Maddy Hirneise of LeTourneau averaged 5.36 digs per set with 59 over three matches on a 2-1 week for the YellowJackets. She posted 21 or more digs in two of the three matches and added 10 assists and five service aces. Senior defensive specialist/libero Isabela Dorsey of McMurry totaled 22 digs over the weekend for the War Hawks with a high of 17 in a win over Concordia (Tex.). First-year defensive specialist Lauralai Bradley of Ozarks (Ark.) recorded 36 digs for a 5.14 digs per set average over two matches for the Eagles. Bradley's weekend high came against Centenary with 19 digs. Senior outside hitter Abby Meaux of Schreiner added 32 digs for the Mountaineers over a 2-0 week in SCAC action. Meaux posted 18 digs against TLU and added 14 against Concordia (Tex.) averaging 4.00 digs per set.
