NYEMA MUHAMMAD OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 30 through Sunday, April 5. SCAC Softball Release - Week 9
Muhammad secured a key SCAC sweep for the War Hawks last week against Austin College, tossing a complete game in a 2-1 win in game three. Muhammad scattered just three hits and struck out a career-high 11 batters, while allowing just one run to get the win. The start marked the third consecutive for Muhammad in which she did not allow a walk. For the week, Muhammad went 1-0 in the circle, with a complete game, three hit, 11 strikeout performance with a 1.00 ERA and a 0.43 WHIP. The 11 strikeout performance marks the second most strikeouts in a single game this season .

Senior right-hander Emma Salis of Hendrix tossed 8.0 combined shutout innings in the Warriors series sweep of Dallas, posting a perfect 1-0 record in two appearances. Salis opened the series with a complete game shutout, scattering just three hits over five innings in an 8-0 victory. She then started game three, facing just two batters over the minimum in three innings of work, allowing just two hits in a14-0 victory. For the Week, Salis tossed 8.0 innings of work, allowed just five hits, struck out one batter and posted a 0.00 ERA and 0.88 WHIP. Junior right-handed pitcher Bailee Cowell of Ozarks posted a 1-1 record in the circle last week, highlighted by a complete game win in the Eagles 8-3 victory over Schreiner on Thursday. In total, Cowell scattered 17 hits over 14.1 innings of work, striking out a pair and posting a 2.93 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. First-year Olivia Montoya of Schreiner helped lift the Mountaineers to a series win over Ozarks, going 2-0 in the circle in two appearances. Montoya pitched 6.0 total innings, allowing eight hits and two earned runs, highlighted by a complete game performance in Schreiner’s 10-2 win over the Eagles. Junior Victoria Sossaman of St. Thomas went 2-0 in the circle last week for the Celts on the road at LeTourneau. Sossaman posted back-to-back compete game performances, bringing her league total to 14 on the season, going 14.0 innings, allowing just three earned runs, while striking out eight and scattering 12 hits to post a 1.50 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. Senior Katelyn Howard of Texas Lutheran picked up her NCAA leading 15th win after going 2-0 in the circle last week in the Bulldogs road series sweep of Centenary. Howard produced a pair of complete games in the circle, tossing 14.0 innings, scattering 11 hits, striking out six and allowing just one earned run, posting a 0.50 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP.
