WES SCALF OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Friday, November 14 & Saturday, November 15. It is the second conscutive week he has earned the honor. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 6)
Scalf continued his outstanding start to his sophomore campaign, securing three individual first place finishes last weekend in dual meets against conference opponent St. Thomas. He opened the week with a new school record in the 200 IM, hitting the wall with a winning time of 1:57.51. He broke the previous record which had been set in 2016. Scalf also secured gold in both the 200-yard breast with a season best time of 2:15.7 and posted his third season best time of the weekend, winning the 100-yard breast in 58.63. He also anchored the winning 200 medley relay team with a blistering split of 21.57.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year swimmer Levi Del Angel of St. Thomas led the way for the Celts in securing a pair of dual meet victories over conference opponent McMurry last weekend. He secured three individual wins and swam a leg on four winning relay events. Del Angel won the 200-yard fly (2:00.02), 400-yard IM (4:27.97) and the 500-yard free (5:03.36) He also swam winning legs on the 200-free relay, 400-medley relay and the 400-free relay squads.
