ASPEN YOUNG OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore from Niceville, Florida, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, March 9 through Sunday, March 15. SCAC Women's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 5
Young won all three of her matches at the No. 1 position as CC opened SCAC play last week. She defeated Mikinley Jamison of Schreiner, 6-0, 6-1, Lindsay Beville of TLU, 6-1, 6-0, and Johanna Winkler of Concordia, 6-4, 6-0 to help the Tigers win all 27 matches during the week.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Maddie Nichol of LeTourneau had the match-clincher in the YellowJackets' 5-2 victory over Greenville with her 6-4, 7-5 victory at the No. 2 flight over Lily Gregory. Nichol went 1-1 in singles and 1-1 in doubles on the week as LeTourneau went 1-1 overall. She and Anaiah Smith earned a 6-3 win over Greenville's Emily Kowalke and Jaidyn Goode. First-year Mikinley Jamison of Schreiner posted a 2-1 week across league play and went 2-2 overall providing the clinching points in wins over Hendrix and Ozarks (Ark.). The first-year anchored the Mountaineers in the top spot of the lineup and posted a third-set tiebreaker win over Hendrix's Caroline Lasley (6-3, 4-6, 6-3) and won 6-2, 6-4 over Ozarks' Kelsey Smith. Jamison's losses came to Washington College's Juanita Arbelaez at No. 1 (6-0, 6-2) and Colorado College's Aspen Young (6-0, 6-1) .
