ASPEN YOUNG AND LUCIA MORAVEK OF COLORADO COLLEGE, have been selected as the SCAC Women’s Doubles Team of the Week for matches played from Monday, March 9 to Sunday, March 15. SCAC Women's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 5
Young, a sophomore from Niceville, Florida, and Moravek, a sophomore from Gig Harbor, Wash., won all three of their matches at the No. 1 position as CC opened SCAC play last week. They defeated Mackenzie Griffin and Katherine Bergeron of Schreiner, 6-1, Lindsay Beville and Lucero Alvarado of TLU, 6-0, and Johanna Winkler and Aria Moreni of Concordia, 6-1, to help the Tigers win all 27 matches during the week.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Chloe Tesser and senior Kylie Weeks of LeTourneau went 1-1 at the No. 1 flight as the YellowJackets also went 1-1 on the week. The tandem's week was highlighted by defeating Greenville's Lanie Carder and Lily Gregory by a 6-3 final in a LeTourneau victory. The duo dropped a 6-3 decision against Lake Forest earlier in the week. First-years Kinverly Ibarra and Mikinley Jamison of Schreiner were 2-1 at No. 2 against league opponents and 2-2 overall this week as the Mountaineers posted sweeps against Hendrix & Ozarks (Ark.) at home. Ibarra and Jamison posted a 6-3 win over Caroline Lasley & Aysha Hosam of Hendrix and a 6-0 victory against Madison Hamilton & Erika Jones of Ozarks (Ark.). The duo's losses came to Jess Wilde & Juanita Arbelaez of Washington College, 6-1, and against Colorado College's Kala Komanduri & Allyson Lowe, 6-3.
