Colorado College Advances to the SCAC Women's Tennis Championship for the First Time Since 2015

WACO, Texas - The second-seeded Colorado College Tigers knocked off Southwestern, 4-0, in semifinal action on Saturday at the 2025 SCAC Women’s Tennis Tournament Championships from the Waco Regional Tennis and Fitness Center. Official Website l Postmatch Interview | Photo Album

The win sends the Tigers into the SCAC Tournament Championship match for the first time since 2015. The victory also snapped the Pirates’ run of eight consecutive championship appearances dating back to 2016.  

Colorado College opened doubles with a 6-1 win at the No. 3 line courtesy of Avery Hickman and Ally Lowe. The Tigers would take a 1-0 lead going into singles after Amelia Karr and Kala Komanduri won 6-1 at the second doubles line.

Lucia Moravek posted the first point on the board in singles for CC with a straight set, 6-0, 6-1 victory at the five line. Lindsay Popeo brought the Tigers within a point from advancing into the title match after claiming victory at the No. 6 line, 6-4, 6-0. Lowe, playing in her first SCAC Championship, slammed the door shut and propelled Colorado College into the program’s second championship match when she earned a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. It marked the second point of the afternoon for Lowe.

Colorado College improved to 12-7 on the season, while Southwestern dropped to 11-11 on the year.

Colorado College advances to the championship tomorrow at Noon CT. The Tigers will square off against top-seeded Trinity. Tomorrow will mark the second appearance in the SCAC Title Match for the CC Tigers and first since 2015. Trinity defeated Colorado College, 5-1, in the match. Southwestern will play fourth-seeded Concordia (Texas) in the third-place match tomorrow at 12 p.m. CT.
