LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- It was an action-packed week in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse with all four teams in action, highlighted by Colorado College extending its win streak to five and continuing its perfect start to the 2019 year.
No. 24 Colorado College (5-0) cruised to a pair of wins last week, knocking off Worcester St., 17-7, last Tuesday and defeating Ill. Wesleyan, 17-8, on Friday. It is the second time in the last three years CC has opened the season perfect through its first five games. Junior Allie Thuet was outstanding in both games, combining for six goals and four assists for a total of 10 points. Thuet has produced a minimum five points in each of her last four games. Sophomore Avery Bell was rock solid defensively in the two games, collecting five ground balls and causing six turnovers.
Southwestern (5-3) has now won four of its last five contests after splitting games last week, defeating Cornell College, 17-9, last Monday before falling to Birmingham-Southern. In the win over Cornell College, Hayley Donnelly and Johnee Wolter each registered six goals, with Donnelly adding two assists for a game-high eight points.
Dallas (2-6) dropped both its contests last week, falling to Cornell College (12-8) on Wednesday and Hendrix (20-9) on Sunday. Senior Lexi Leite combined for eight goals in the two losses.
Johnson & Wales (1-4) fell to Whittier, 16-1, last Friday in the Wildcats only game of the week. Katie Smith scored her fifth goal of the season in the loss.
SCAC women’s lacrosse action continues this week with three of four teams at work, highlighted by JWU scheduled for four contests in six says starting on Tuesday.
