LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's golf fall schedule wrapped up this week as Southwestern, Texas Lutheran and Centenary competed at the Abilene Intercollegiate hosted by Hardin-Simmons University.
Southwestern captured the team title in the nine-team event after firing a 36-hole score of 574 (289-285), played at the par-71, 6,977-yard Diamondback Course in Abilene, Texas. The Pirates carded 26 birdies over the two-day event to secure a two-stroke victory. Junior Cade Osgood and senior Matthew Christi led the way for the Pirates finishing in a tie for second after posting identical 36-hole scores of two-under par 140s. Osgood opened the event with a 67, the lowest round of the tournament, while Christi's 68 on day two was the lowest closing round in the field. The duo accounted for 15 of Southwestern's 26 birdies on the week and led the field in par-four scoring average (3.82).
Texas Lutheran finished third in the team standings, posting a two-day score of 580 (296-284) which included the lowest team round of the week to close out the tournament. The Bulldogs led all teams with a 4.80 scoring average on the par-five holes throughout the tournament. TLU was led by Colin Uecker as the senior finished in a three-way tie for fifth out of 51 athletes with 143 (75-68) total strokes. Uecker led the field with 30 total pars and finished with three birdies.
Centenary improved 11 strokes on its opening round to finish with a 36-hole team total of 631 to finish in ninth. The Gents were led by juniors Reed Balcerowicz (81-73) and Brodey Warner (76-78) who finished in a five-way tie for 28th (154) .
