JACK KALE OF LETOURNEAU UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Fort Worth, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week of the Week for games played from Monday, April 13 through Sunday, April 19. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 11
Kale batted .500 (5-for-10) with three home runs, seven RBI, seven runs scored, and had an OPS of 2.067 in a sweep of Hendrix. Kale homered in all three games of the series. He went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in a 6-0 win in game one. Kale was then 2-for-3 with a homer, three runs, and a walk in game two. He finished the series going 2-for-5 with a homer, four RBI, and two runs scored.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Vance Sartor of Centenary had a big weekend at the plate in a three-game series at home versus St. Thomas as he finished 4-12 (.333) with a .429 OBP and slugged .667. He had two doubles and a triple, a walk, a run scored, and five RBI. He recorded his 10th multi-hit game of the season in game two of a DH on Friday as he went 3-4 for his sixth three-hit game of the season. Sophomore first-baseman Collin Bruning of McMurry was outstanding at the plate, posting a .536 batting average, going 9-for-16 with six doubles, six runs scored and nine RBI. Bruning also stole four bases, walked twice and posted a .579 on-base percentage. Junior Gage Kimble of St. Thomas (Tex.) put together a strong all-around week at the plate, hitting .400 with eight hits, including two home runs and a double, while scoring six runs across four games. He posted a .478 on-base percentage and .750 slugging percentage, adding a stolen base and drawing two walks. Behind the plate, Kimble was just as impactful, recording a perfect fielding percentage and throwing out four runners. Sophomore Caleb Small of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a 3-1 week with a pair of homers (including one inside the park), seven RBI and eight runs scored. Small hit .600 for the week (6-of-10) with a 1.200 slugging percentage along with four walks and four stolen bases.
