KINLEY PESSEL OF LETOURNEAU UNIVERSITY, a junior from Marshall, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Monday, March 23 through Tuesday, March 24. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 5)
Pessel captured her fourth win of the year as LeTourneau women's golf finished second in the Linda Lowery Invitational title at the par-72 Teravista Golf Club on Tuesday. Pessel led wire-to-wire firing identical rounds of 76 (+4) to post a 36-hole score of 152 (+8). She finished the tournament with four birdies (T7th in field) and 20 pars (T5th in field) and finished with a par 3 scoring average of even par 3.00.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Regina Perez of St. Thomas led the Celts to a third-place finish at the Linda Lowery Invite, securing third-place individually with back-to-back rounds of 81 (+9) and 75 (+3) to finish 12-over par (156). Her six birdies on the week finished tied for first among the field of 47 athletes. Sophomore Haylee Crowder of Centenary finished tied for fifth to lead the Ladies at the Linda Lowery Invitational. Crowder carded rounds of 77 (+5) and 81 (+9) to post a two-day total of 158 (+14). Crowder finished the tournament with 21 pars, tied for the third most in the field. Junior Micah Rabey of Schreiner turned in a top 10 finish, finishing tied for ninth at the Linda Lowery Invitational. Rabey fired rounds of 80 (+8) and 81 (+9) to post 161 (+18), highlighted by 22 pars, tied for the most in the field. First-year Katelyn Henslee of McMurry finished tied for 12th to lead the War Hawks at the Linda Lowery Invitational. Henslee opened with a seven-over round of 79 before closing with an 83, to post a two-round total of 162 (+18). Sophomores Reese and Remme Trujillo of Concordia (Tex.) finished tied for 17th to lead the Tornados at their home Linda Lowery Invite. The duo posted identical two round scores of 165 (+21), highlighted by a round of 78 from Remme and round of 80 by Reese. First-year Ava Martinez of Hendrix finished with six birdies to finished tied atop the field at the Linda Lowery Invitational and fired a two round total of 167 (+23) to finish tied for 20th in the field.
