MALAYA THOMAS OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEX.), a junior from East Benard, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, February 23 through Sunday, March 1. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 1
In her collegiate debut at the Hendrix Open, Thomas placed fourth in the 200-meters (26.41) and fifth in the 100-meters (13.03). Her times ranked as the best amongst D3 competitors at the meet that featured mostly Division I & II athletes. Thomas also anchored the women’s 4x400m relay team to a third-place finish.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Chloe Weathers of Ozarks secured a fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meters among competitions across all divisions in the region to open up the 2026 outdoor season at the Hendrix Open. Weathers crossed the line with a time of 18:57.39.
