LOGAN SIFUENTES OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior from North Richland Hills, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Tuesday, March 17 through Sunday, March 22. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 7
Sifuentes earned a pair of saves over the weekend against St. Thomas (Tex.) pitching 2.1 total innings allowing two hits and recording a pair of strikeouts. Sifuentes entered in the eighth inning of game two holding a one-run lead and allowed just one hit to the seven batters he faced. The senior was then called upon in the bottom of the ninth of game three with two on and closed out the contest allowing one hit and one walk to give the Mountaineers the win.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Gavin Voth of Concordia (Tex.) earned the win in relief for the Tornados in the rubber match against Austin College. Voth tossed 4.0 innings and allowed just one run on two hits while striking out six. His four innings of relief work mark his second appearance out of the bullpen this season after five starts and the six strikeouts are a career-high for the sophomore. Senior Adam Trevino of McMurry made a pair of appearances from the bullpen against Hendrix pitching one inning in each, struck out six and earned a save. In his first appearance, Trevino earned a save pitching the final inning allowing one hit, a walk and striking out three. In game three of the sweep against Hendrix, the senior pitched the final inning, striking out the side.
