WACO, Texas -- The third-seed Southwestern University opened play at the Southern College Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-0 quarterfinal victory over the sixth-seed Schreiner University Friday afternoon at the Waco Regional Tennis and Fitness Center. The Pirates quickly grabbed the matches' doubles point as the No. 2 squad of Daryl Locke and Helaina Reynoso swept their counterparts 6-0 and the line three duo of Alexa Nunez and Lilly Perkins took a 6-1 decision to send the match to singles play.
Southwestern's dominance continued in singles play and Valeria Gracia (at No. 5), Adrianna Kozakiewicz (at No. 6) and Lydia Lee (at No. 4) each earned 6-0, 6-0 sweeps over their oppenents from Schreiner with Lee's sweep of the Mountaineers' Katherine Bergeron putting the finishing touches on the victory.
The Pirates improved to 11-10 on the season, while Schreiner finishes the season at 5-12.

Southwestern advances to the semifinal round tomorrow where the Pirates will take on the No. 2 seed and 48th-ranked, Colorado College. The two teams played the final regular season weekend at Southwestern where CC picked up the 7-0 sweep. That win snapped a nine-match winning streak Southwestern had over CC dating back to 2015.
