KIDUS GETENET OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior from Allen, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Friday, February 20 through Sunday, February 22.  SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 15)

Getenet helped the 'Roos cap off a huge final month of the season in which they won seven of their final 10 games to earn a spot in the conference tournament, averaging 23.0 points and 6.0 rebounds as Austin College went 2-0 against Hendrix and Ozarks (Ark.). Getenet poured in 30 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the win over the Warriors, and added 16 points in a must-win game against the Eagles.
 
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC: 
Senior Quentin Beverly of Centenary finished the regular season strong as he averaged 20.0 PPG in two road games against Colorado College and St. Thomas (Tex.) and added five rebounds, five steals, two assists and a blocked shot. Beverly recorded his team-high 23rd and 24th double-digit performances of the season and has done so in 13-straight games. Senior Asher Nofziger of Colorado College led the Tigers to a perfect 2-0 record over the weekend, averaging a 16.5 ppg and 15.5 rebounds per game double-double. On Friday against Centenary, the senior scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed 11 boards while dishing out an assist and a block. On Sunday, he capped his historic regular season with a career-high 20 rebounds and 14 points to lead CC to a emphatic win over top-seeded LeTourneau. He also got 2 blocks and an assist against the Yellow Jackets. Senior Joey Ramirez of Concordia (Tex.) averaged 27.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in a pair of road wins. In a 102-91 win over McMurry, Ramirez scored a team-high 25 points, on an efficient 11-of-14 shooting from the field. In a 97-95 win over Schreiner in the regular season finale, Ramirez posted a game-high 29 points (11-of-12 FTM) to go along with eight boards. First-year Holden Plant of Hendrix averaged 20.0 points in the Warriors' final two contests of the regular season. After scoring 13 points against Austin College, the first-year dropped a career-high 27 points in the Warriors' regular season finale against the University of Dallas, going 9-of-17 from the field and knocked down a pair of 3-pointers. Senior Teigan Edwards of LeTourneau averaged 14.0 points, 7.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game for the YellowJackets. He had 10 points, six rebounds, and seven assists in a loss at No. 4 St. Thomas (Tex.). In a two-point loss at Colorado College, Edwards had 18 points with seven assists, four steals, and three rebounds. First-year Eyal Shamri of Ozarks (Ark.) averaged 29.0 points and hit seven three-pointers to push the Eagles to a 1-1 week to end the season. Shamri hit 23-of-42 for a 54.8 shooting percentage from the field and hit 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Against Dallas, he poured in 26 points drilling four three-pointers while recording four steals. The next day against Austin College, he went for 32 points in 36 minutes of action. Junior Corey Thompson of St. Thomas (Tex.) led the Celts offensively across two starts, averaging 15.0 points in 29.5 minutes per game. He shot an efficient 50 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range, knocking down four triples, while adding eight free throws. Thompson also contributed four assists and three steals, helping St. Thomas (Tex.) secure two wins on the weekend and remain a perfect 16-0 in conference. Senior Mason Wallace of Texas Lutheran ended his TLU career by playing nearly every minute of both contests, scoring over 30 points in back-to-back games. Wallace shot over 60 percent on the week posting a double-double in a win at Schreiner with 31 points and 11 rebounds. The senior followed that up with 33 points against McMurry, marking a career-high in his final contest.
