MAX MUNDORFF OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior forward from Huntsville, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 20th through Sunday, October 26th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 9)
Mundorff had a massive game to help Austin College go 2-0 on the weekend and clinch a spot in the SCAC Tournament, scoring twice and assisting on the game-winner in a 3-1 road win at Hendrix on Friday. It marked his first career multigoal effort in his career and the five points in a single game are a career high as well. Mundorff is now second on the team with 11 points this season. His efforts have helped AC clinch an SCAC Tournament playoff spot for the first time since 2019.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Jesse Garfias of Concordia (TX) tallied four points last week in leading the Tornados to a pair of league wins, six critical points on the league table and clinching a spot in the SCAC Tournament. Garfias scored his third goal of the season in a 3-0 win over St. Thomas at home on Friday and followed that up with two assists in a 3-1 win at Centenary on Sunday. Garfias is now second on the team with 10 points this season. First-year forward Hendry Shore of LeTourneau continued his outstanding rookie campaign this year, scoring the game-winning goal in the YellowJackets, 1-0, win over Ozarks on the road last Friday. It was Shore’s eighth goal of the season, tied for the third most in the conference this year. Sophomore forward Pedro Yanez of McMurry scored a goal and added an assist for three total points in the War Hawks, 5-1, win over Dallas on Sunday. Yanez now has seven goals on the year, fifth most in the SCAC and his 16 total points on the season is also good enough for fifth best in the league. First-year midfielder Max Guzman of Texas Lutheran scored a goal and added and assist in the Bulldogs’, 3-0, win over Centenary last Friday. Guzman is now third on the team with nine total points on the season.
