REECE ESSER OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a junior from Huntsville, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets conducted Friday, January 16 through Sunday, January 18.  SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 11)

Esser continued her impressive season with three individual wins to lead the Ladies to a pair of wins on Saturday at home in a conference dual meet against Austin College and the University of St. Thomas. Esser picked up her wins in the 50 free (25.76), 100 fly (1:02.40), and 100 back (1:05.89). She was also part of the Ladies' team that finished second in the 200- yard medley relay as they swam a time of 2:05.05.

Esser shares swimmer of the week honors with Julia Cox of Colorado College. 

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Ruthie Ward of Asbury performed well in a pair of dual meets this weekend. In a dual meet against Sewanee on Friday, Ward took first in the 100 FL (1:04.0), and helped lead both the A 200 medley relay and A 200 FR relays to victory with a 26.2 split on the fly leg and a 24.7 anchor leg holding off Sewanee's relay for the win. On Saturday against Sewanee and Montevallo, the sophomore swam a quick 1:01.0 fly leg on the 400 medley relay that finished third. Individually, she finished second in the 50 FR (25.8) and third in the 100 FR (57.2). Sophomore Julia Cox of Colorado College won three individual events and posted a second place finish this weekend at the CC Classic finishing as the top point earner with 77 points. She claimed the top spot in the 50 Free (24.20), 100 Free (53.28), 200 Free (1:56.41) while earning second place in the 500 Free (5:25.32), a personal best time. She also anchored the 400 Medley Relay (51.95) which place second, 200 Free Relay (23.94) which placed first, 200 Medley Relay (23.79) which placed third and 400 Free relay (51.70) which broke the pool record by six seconds and placed first. Senior CeCe Worth of Hendrix had an outstanding performance at the Warriors' Senior Meet on Saturday, serving as the anchor on the 200 mixed medley relay and competing in the 200 IM and the 100 freestyle. She finished first in both races, including the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.90, earning a season best in that event.
