CASEY CLEMO OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior goalkeeper from Forney, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 6th through Sunday, October 12th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 7)
Clemo started both matches for the Gents this past weekend, corralling 14 total saves and lifting Centenary to a 4-2-0 mark in SCAC play. Clemo opened the weekend with six saves in the Gents, 2-1 win over LeTourneau and then followed that up with eight saves in a 4-1 win over Austin College. His efforts have lifted Centenary to three-straight SCAC wins for the first time in program history.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defender Devin Hammel of Concordia (TX) helped the Tornados secure four key points in the league standings last weekend with a 3-1 win at Dallas and a 1-1 draw at Colorado College. Hammel and the Tornados allowed just five shots on target all weekend. Sophomore goalkeeper Carson Gamble of LeTourneau notched seven saves on the week and helped the YellowJackets to an upset win over St. Thomas. He posted five saves in a 2-1 loss to Centenary and in the 3-1 win over St. Thomas, Gamble allowed just one goal and made two key saves as LeTourneau collected the victory.
