Competition in three events - shot put, javelin and long jump - kickstarted the meet; a day that was highlighted by a record-breaking performance from first-year Annabelle Lanik of Trinity and a double gold medal effort from sophomore Kendra Humphries of McMurry.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Kendra Humphries of McMurry (watch post race interview) made her SCAC championship meet debut and earned gold in the shot put with a toss of 13.07 meters (42' 10 1/2") - the second-longest throw in SCAC meet history. Senior Julissa Rodriguez of Texas Lutheran, the 2022 champion in the event, finished second with an effort of 13.01 meters (42' 8 1/4") - the fourth-longest toss in conference meet history. Sophomore Tori Colman of McMurry was third with a throw of 11.72 meters (38' 5 1/2").
- McMurry's Kendra Humphries (watch post race interview) made it two-for-two, taking top honors in the javelin with a toss of 37.68 meters (123' 7"). With the victory, Humphries became the first woman since Texas Lutheran's Tia Hart in 2021 and just the third all-time to sweep the shot put and javelin at the same conference championship meet. Natalie Ferdi of LeTourneau became the Yellowjackets first-ever female All-SCAC performer as the sophomore finished second with a throw of 34.56 meters (113' 5") and junior Kirsten Smith of Texas Lutheran was third with a toss of 32.25 meters (105' 10").
- First-year Annabelle Lanik of Trinity (watch post race interview) closed the first day with a record-breaking performance, taking top honors in the long jump by leaping to victory with a 5.97 meters (19' 7") effort. Lanik shattered the previous mark of 18' 10" - a mark that had stood since 2005 - by nine inches. Her teammate, senior Joy Areloa who is the two-time defending champion in the event, finished second with a jump of 5.71 meters (18' 8 3/4"), which is the fourth-best effort in conference meet history. Junior Clara Lippert of Colorado College took third with a leap of 5.37 meters (17' 7 1/2").
