THAVINDRA
EKANAYAKE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior on
the women’s tennis team from Colombo, Sri Lanka,
has been has been selected the SCAC Character & Community
Female Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending May 20,
2012.
Ekanayake is working towards her B.S. in
Business Administration from Trinity, concentrating on Accounting
and Finance. She plans to enter the M.S. Accounting program at
Trinity upon receiving her undergraduate degree.
A member of the Trinity’s Dean’s List, Ekanayake is both an ITA All-American, and a member of the ITA Division III All-Academic Team. In addition to being a member of both the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Ekanayake is an active participant with the Trinity University Volunteer Action Community, which performs a number of different community service activities in San Antonio.
Ekanayake has served on the Student Programming Board, and is a Resident Mentor for 16 Tiger first-year students. She has also worked with the Student Managed Fund, managing a portion of the Trinity University endowment fund in publicly-traded equities, and making investment recommendations.
In addition to serving as a Teacher’s Assistant for Investment Principles and Analysis at Trinity, Ekanayake also spent the past two summers doing investment research, equity trading, and traning with different financial firms in her hometown in Sri Lanka – including a stint working with companies listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
