IAIN GRIGGS OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a senior from Madison, Ala., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Sunday, September 14 through Tuesday, September 23. SCAC Golf Release (Week 2)
Griggs was outstanding in leading the Crusaders to sixth-place team finish at the Rhodes Fall Invitational after posting a top five individual finish. Griggs was one of just four players in the field to finish under par, firing a three-round score of 215 (-1) to finish tied for third. He carded rounds of 70 (-2), 71 (-1) and 73 (+2). Griggs led the field in par five scoring with a 4.25 scoring average (-9) on the par fives.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Trey Bishop of Centenary led the way for the Gents as they opened their Fall season with a 13th-place finish in the Rhodes Fall Invitational on Monday at Tunica National Golf and Tennis Club in Tunica, Miss. The rookie shot a 20-over par 236 to tie for 48th place as he turned in rounds of 77-76-83. Senior Parker Smith of Concordia (TX) fired an even par 72 behind the power of three birdies and 10 pars to finish tied for 12th at the Midwest Region Classic. His efforts helped the Tornados to finish in a tie for ninth. Senior Oliver Naumann of Hendrix led the way for the Warriors at the Rhodes College Invitational finishing tied for sixth with a three-round total of 218 (+2). Naumann fired rounds of 74 (+2), 71 (-1) and 73 (+1) to help Hendrix capture ninth as a team. Sophomore Owen Prewitt of LeTourneau was outstanding at the Div. III preview finishing tied for 11th with the 56-hole score of 214 (-1). He was one of just 15 players to finish under par and finished with rounds of 70 (-1), 75 (+3) and 69 (-3). His final round of 69 was tied for the fourth best final round and vaulted him up 11 spots to finish in the top 15. Senior Van Miller of Texas Lutheran secured a tie for sixth-place finish at the Rhodes College Invitational firing a three-round total of 218 (+2). Miller shot rounds of 73 (+1), 70 (-2) and 75 (+3) to help TLU secure a seventh-place finish.
