AUSTIN, Texas – Powered by a four run fifth inning, third-seeded Trinity University defeated sixth-seeded Centenary College, 6-2, Friday morning in opening round action of the 2025 SCAC Softball Tournament Championships at Roberts Family Field on the campus of Concordia University. HOW IT HAPPENED
- Originally scheduled for 1:30 PM CT at Southwestern, the game was moved to 10 AM on the campus of Concordia to try and work around on-going weather issues in the area.
- Centenary jumped on the Tigers early, scoring a run in the top of the first when Abby Touchet drove in Noelle Sandmann with a two out RBI double.
- The Ladies’ Emma Shepherd limited Trinity to just two hits through the first four innings, keeping Centenary ahead 1-0 going into the fifth.
- Trinity broke through in the fifth, taking a 2-1 lead courtesy of a two RBI single off the bat of Hannah Boudreaux, scoring Hayden Del Toro and Angela Baltzell. The Tigers extended the lead to 4-1 after RBI singles from Carsyn Lee and Leah Gonzalez.
- Trinity pushed two more runs across in the sixth after Del Toro scored her second run of the game off an Ella Whitacre RBI, followed by Boudreaux registering her third RBI of the day, scoring Baltzell on a single up the middle.
- Centenary managed one run in the top of the seventh as Emma Crow scored her 13th run of the season but was unable to crawl any closer.
