COLT HARRIS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore infielder from San Katy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Saturday, March 14 through Sunday, March 20. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 6
Harris led 18th-ranked Trinity to a 4-0 record last week, including a three-game weekend sweep to open SCAC play against Southwestern. Harris batted .500 (9-for-18) for the week with five runs scored and six RBI. He finished with three doubles and a home run among his nine hits for a slugging percentage of .833 for the week. Harris had three multi-hit games for the week and drove in two runs in each of the weekend games in SCAC play. The week began with Trinity's 13-9 victory in which Harris went 3-for-5 with three runs scored. After picking up a hit in Friday's SCAC series opener, Harris then went 5-for-9 (.555) in Saturday's doubleheader. He had three hits in game one, then hit a pair of doubles to finish up the series. For the season, Harris is batting .381 (16-for-42) with 11 runs scored and is second on the team with 14 RBI. He now has four doubles, and a pair of home runs this year for a slugging percentage of .619.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior infielder Jacob Tanner of Southwestern posted a .714 on-base percentage for the week, hitting 7-for-12 (.583) with a .917 slugging percentage. Tanner led Southwestern with five RBI and nine runs scored with one home run, a double, and seven walks drawn. Sophomore catcher Tristan Pitkin of St. Thomas was outstanding in the SCAC opening series against Schreiner in which the Celts earned a 2-1 series victory. Pitkin batted .417 going 5-for-12 with two RBI, two runs scored and three walks to post a .533 on-base percentage. Junior outfielder Blake Cappadona of Texas Lutheran was an instrumental part of the Bulldogs offense as they opened conference play - tallying seven hits including his first career home run. Cappadona would maintain a .538 batting average and .769 slugging percentage to go along with three RBI and four runs scored as TLU took two of three off of Centenary last weekend.
