ATLANTA, Ga. - Oglethorpe University head
women’s basketball coach Ron Sattele has decided to take a
leave of absence from the team effective immediately to handle
personal family matters. Sattele was in his seventh year at the
helm of the Stormy Petrels’ program and took Oglethorpe to
the 2008 NCAA Division III Final Four.
"We strongly support Coach Sattele’s decision to focus on
family matters during trying times,” said Oglethorpe athletic
director Jay Gardiner. “Though he will be sorely missed by
the Oglethorpe athletic department, there are times when the game
of life is much bigger than basketball and the University
steadfastly supports his decision to temporarily step aside."
The team’s assistant coach in her third year, Fallon Rehmert,
will become the interim head coach for the women’s basketball
program for the remainder of the season.
