BEN WHITTEMORE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Georgetown, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Wednesday, September 1 through Saturday, September 4. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 1)

Whittemore paced the Tigers' men's squad in the UIW Twilight Opener hosted by NCAA I University of the Incarnate Word Friday night. The reigning SCAC runner-up crossed the line 17th (19:27.3), crushing his previous 6k PR of 20:52.8 in the event comprised of NCAA I competition from across the state of Texas.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Devlin Swanson of Colorado College finished 31st among college athletes at the UCCS Rust Buster, a mostly DII meet. He was Colorado College's fourth runner in his first-ever collegiate race with a 27:53 at 6000 feet above sea level. Freshman Brian Armijo of Southwestern paced the Pirates in their season opener at the UCCS Rust Buster. Armijo narrowly edged out teammate Noah Dennis, completing the 8,000-meter race with a time of 28:22.9 for an average mile of 5:42.5. Freshman Andres Padron of St. Thomas, with temperatures hovering around 85 degrees and a heat index of 94, finished in a time of 17:00 over the 3.2 mile at the Texas A&M Invitational. His time was good for 36th place in a field made up of 67 mostly D1 runners. Freshman EJ Tongee of Texas Lutheran finished 10th at the Concordia (Texas) Tornado Watch Invitational - mostly behind D1 Texas runners - with a time of 17 minutes, 11.1 seconds.
