TLU's Anderson; Hunt Earn SCAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Senior track sprinter Monique Anderson and junior field jumper Marlena Hunt of Texas Lutheran University has been named SCAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week after impressive performances this past weekend.

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC TRACK ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK
Events through Sunday, February 23rd

MONIQUE ANDERSON OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Track Athlete-of-the-Week for meets through Sunday, February 23rd.

Anderson, an All-American, secured sprint titles in the 100 and 200 meters and anchored the Bulldogs' winning 4x100 relay Saturday at the Trinity University Open.

Anderson won the 100 with a time of 12.12 seconds and took the 200 in 25.25. The 4x100 relay team edged Huston-Tillotson, 48.98 to 49.11, for the win. TLU's winning relay team included Brittany Steubing, Vanecia Spencer, Melanie Hunt, and Anderson.

 

SCAC FIELD ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK

MARLENA HUNT OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Gonzales, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Field Athlete-of-the-Week for meets through Sunday, February 23rd.

Hunt was the top NCAA Division III athlete in the long jump and the triple jump at the Trinity University Open on Saturday.

Hunt finished second in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump. In the long jump, she posted a mark of 5.28 meters (17.32 feet) and finished second to Kearah Danville of Angelo State. In the triple jump, Hunt recorded a jump of 10.9 meters (35.76 feet) and placed fourth behind an unattached athlete and two Angelo State jumpers.
