KARISA CANTU OF TEXAS LUTHERAN
UNIVERSITY, a junior guard from San Antonio,
Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Basketball
Co-Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, December 16th
through Sunday, January 5th.
Cantu propelled the Bulldogs to a 6-1
record over the reporting period by averaging 14.1 points, 5.1
rebounds and 4.9 assists.
Cantu scored a season-high 22 points
in the home loss to NAIA school St. Ambrose (Iowa), added 20 points
in a road win over NAIA school Northwood, and posted a
triple-double in TLU’s SCAC-opening win over
Schreiner.
In the victory over the
Mountaineers, Cantu scored
13 points, dished out 10 assists and grabbed 11
rebounds.
Cantu and the Bulldogs, at 9-3
overall, are off to the second-best start in program history. The
Bulldogs’ six-game win streak is the longest for the program
since the 1984-85 season.
