MATT CARDONE
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior goalkeeper from San
Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Soccer
Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
October 21st through Sunday, October 27th.
Cardone led Trinity to a pair of SCAC road
shutouts. He recorded four saves in 135 minutes of action during
the weekend, including his fourth shutout of the season on Friday
at TLU. In the TLU game, Cardone recorded three saves to keep the
Bulldogs off the board.
For the season, Cardone has now recorded 33 saves
and four shutouts for the Tigers, posting a GAA of just 0.49 in his
17 games played. Cardone has yielded just seven goals in nearly
1,300 minutes in goal, and he has given up just two goals –
only one against Division III teams – during Trinity’s
13-game winning streak.
