The Warrior defense had an outstanding day as they did not allow a single shot the entire match.  Hendrix wrapped up an exciting weekend against No. 9 Bellarmine at O.B. Frazier Stadium on Saturday evening.  The Warriors’ third straight “W” sets a new school record and improves the squad to 4-7 on the year. Despite being outshot, 13-2, Hendrix used a come-from-behind effort to outlast the Bellarmine Knights’ game-opening score in the 18th minute.  Senior defender Heather Newell scored Hendrix’s game-winner off a pass from DesPain in the 54th minute.  Newell netted her third goal of the year after LaFortune sent the ball in on the penalty corner.  The Warrior defense bounced back on just a day’s rest to have another solid night.  Hendrix did not allow Bellarmine another look at the goal after the Warriors went on top in the 54th minute.  Warrior senior goalkeeper Alyssa Havens had an outstanding night in front of the net.  Havens was a wall and denied seven shots (six in the first half).

Rhodes advanced to 12-1 with a 4-1 win over Washington and Lee at Sewanee on Friday.  The Lynx controlled first half play but found themselves knotted in a 0-0 match at half time after having an early goal called back.  Rhodes dominated posession the second period of play and managed to find the back of the cage four times before the final whistle blew.  Lindsey Gurkovich led off the scoring tallying the game winner just 5 minutes into the second half.  Lindsey scored a second goal just 8 minutes later to put the Lynx up 2-0 on an assist from Sarah Ferguson.  Washington and Lee made a strong push late and scored a goal with 8 minutes remaining but the Lynx countered with two of their own to finish off the match.  Libby Jones scored on a pass from Charlie Wagner on a penalty corner play and Katie Faucher scored on a breakaway on a pass from Gurkovich in the final seconds.  The Lynx (12-1, 5-0 SCAC) face off against DePauw and Sewanee at home this coming weekend.
