CONYERS, Ga. - In the closest SCAC women's cross country championship race, the DePauw University Tigers narrowly edged the Rhodes College Lynx for the Tigers' seventh straight conference championship. DePauw was a two point victor over the Lynx.
The two point margain of victory topped the previous record of four points for closest finish in both the 2001 and 2008 SCAC championship races. In the 2001 race, Rhodes was a four point winner over DePauw.
DePauw senior Lauren Reich, who finished in second place last
year, beat out Trinity University's Caitlin Masse by nearly 30
seconds to earn SCAC Women's Runner of the Year honors and claim
the individual title. Reich ran a 22:12.46 6K. Her time ranks as
the seventh best 6K all-time in conference history (since 2005) at
the conference championship meet.
Masse clocked a 22:41.71 to rank second while DePauw's Ellen Mail
(23:26.86), Rhodes' Taylor Stephens (23:37.67) and DePauw's Claire
Hollis (23:46.69) rounded out the top-five respectively.
