Marguerite Spaethling of Colorado College, a junior middle blocker from Larkspur, Calif., has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from October 16th to October 21st.
Spaethling hit .400 while leading the Tigers to a 3-0 record last weekend at the A-C Divisional Crossover in San Antonio. In the five-set win over Trinity, Spaethling led CC with 15 kills on 30 attempts while hitting .367 as the Tigers rallied to win the final two sets. Over the weekend Spaethling collected 26 kills and averaged 2.89 kills-per-set.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman outside hitter Ellise Anable of Dallas recorded 30 kills over the weekend including a personal-best 16 kills against Texas Lutheran. Southwestern senior outside hitter Jamison Duck notched 17 kills and 9 service aces to lead the Pirates to a weekend sweep over their competition. Senior middle blocker Michaela Brantley of Centenary recorded a season high 16 kills while posting a .419 hitting percentage in the Ladies’ victory over Austin College. Trinity senior outside hitter Madeline McKay posted a .313 hitting percentage for the week, highlighted by a 15-kill performance in the loss to Colorado College. Junior middle blocker Kelsi Menn tallied 19 kills and posted at least a .545 in all three of Texas Lutheran’s matches last week. Austin College freshman middle blocker Christine Royalty averaged 2.50 kills-per-set with a .362 hitting percentage in three matches for the Roos’.
